PORTRAYAL : generally follows the original child's play (1988), including cut content, and subsequent movies, sans curse / cult of chucky. utilizes events from the novelizations by matthew j. costello. does not take chucky (tv series) or child's play (2019) as canon, though will interact with muses from those medias.follows a human charles lee ray whose body is still attached after death, but whose soul still finds refuge within the good guy doll. charles still retains use of his body, and is able to control the doll.

| IN the early hours on a chilly chicago night -- november 9th, 1988 -- charles lee ray, the lakeshore strangler, is shot and killed by detective mike norris after a short police chase. open and shut. his body is taken to the morgue. his soul resides within a crappy plastic effigy; a good guy doll with all the plastic bits and pieces attached. he's been separated -- but not for long. after the events involving the barclay family, chucky retakes his body with the small caveat that he still must be tethered to the doll.
